Adjacent to Cae Mor Hotel Llandudno sits the Popular Venue Cymru

For those staying at the Cae Mor Hotel Llandudno, a visit to the adjacent Venue Cymru is a must.

Veune Cymru (Welsh Theatre) is one of the main attractions for all ages in Llandudno as it attracts a great variety of comedians, musicians and actors that star in the many shows that appear at the Venue. Comedians such as Frankie Boyle and Paul Merton have performed there as well as popular Pantomimes such as Aladdin and Peter Pan.  Even the local dancing schools and groups perform there shows here, ‘Pearl Shaw’ have been doing their dance routines for a good five years now.

As well as shows for the middle and younger age range there are also numerous shows that the older generation will enjoy including English classics such as ‘An Inspector Calls’ and ‘Oh What a Lovely War2’.

Since 1894, there has always been a theatre on the foundations on which Venue Cymru now stands and over the past century, developers and designers have been making the popular theatre more and more modern. It is now in a state of total modernisation, pane glass windows, 1500 seats in the auditorium and even business meetings are now held there.

The theatre had always been rather large but the number of seats became a great deal fewer but as the years went on, the seats were increased by about a hundred each time it got a new owner. When another building was constructed a conference centre was built in the once named ‘Arcadia’ and this had 1,800 seats with at least 2,500 standing but the theatre was the proms pride and joy.

Since then, bars have been put in place for intervals and pre-performance drinks; Caitlin’s Bar, the Foyer Bar and the circle bar are the additions to the complex and are open at least an hour before show time. The Circle bar is on the first and second floors and allow a view out on to the beach and coast, alcohol and soft drinks can be bought here and there are seats and raised tables for sitting and standing while you wait. However, Caitlin’s Bar is open daily from 9.30am and serve a range of sandwiches, teas, coffees and pastries for everyone’s enjoyment.
