The Great Orme Tramway Llandudno is the only remaining fixed cable tram system in great Britain and one of only 3
surviving in the world.
The Tramway is the easiest and most enjoyable way to make the ascent up the Great Orme, running since 1902 to this day, originally powered by steam until it was converted to our modern day electricity. The tramway is a great and traditional way of getting to the summit; enjoy rolling past incredible views with a friendly and leisurely atmosphere. Stretching from Llandudno all the way to the summit, the Tramway has been lovingly restored so that you can rediscover the same journey people made more than 100 years ago, ready to serve visitors in the new century.
The journey makes for a fantastic day out, after enjoying the ascent, take a break at the summit café where you can enjoy staggering views, where on a clear day you can see Snowdonia, Anglesey and even The Isle of Man, The Lake District, and Black pool. There are lots to things to do up the Great Orme and the best way is traveling in style, rather than turning a day out into an exhibition by walking up.
The Great Orme Tramwy is only a 15min walk from the Cae Mor Hotel Llandudno.
